Window Style Guide

Impact Sliding Windows, easy living.

Wide, low-profile windows that glide open sideways. Nothing swings out, nothing sticks out, and the glass is rated for hurricane season.

How it opens

Designed around how you live.

  1. 1

One fixed panel. Half the unit stays put.

  2. 2

One glides. The other panel slides open along the track.

  3. 3

Latch and go. Close it and the unit locks as a single impact-rated assembly.

The good stuff

Why homeowners love sliding windows

Wide, easy views

Horizontal glass suits the long, low lines of so many Florida homes and the views that go with them.

Nothing in the way

The sash never swings outward, so sliders work beside walkways, pool decks, and under lanais.

Effortless to use

A light push opens them (no crank, no lifting) which makes them easy for everyone in the house.

If your home has old aluminum sliders, an impact slider is the most natural upgrade you can make.

Single-pane aluminum sliders are common in South Florida homes built from the 1970s through the 1990s. Replacing them with impact sliders keeps the look and operation homeowners know while adding hurricane protection and better efficiency.

Choosing

Sliding window or single-hung?

Single-Hung

  • Sash slides up
  • Suits taller openings
  • Lift to open
  • Very few moving parts

Yes, it's one of the most common upgrades we do. We measure each opening, remove the old units, and install NOA-approved impact sliders sized to fit, with permits and inspection handled by Haven.

Yes. In Miami-Dade and Broward's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, the whole unit (every glazed panel and the frame) must be part of an NOA-approved assembly, and both panels must independently meet the missile-impact standard.

They describe the panel layout viewed from outside: X is a panel that slides, O is a fixed panel. XO is a two-panel slider; XOX is a three-panel unit with a fixed center and sliding panels on each side.

A sliding window sits above the floor in a wall opening; a sliding glass door runs to the floor so you can walk through it. We install both: see our impact doors page for sliding glass doors.
